Our Philosophy
AI is the most disruptive technology shift in a generation. Most companies are using it. A smaller group is building with it. The companies pulling ahead are in the second group.1 We exist to help mid-market companies make that shift.
Building with AI is not a technology problem. It is a business problem with technology underneath it. New software changes how your team works, what they spend their time on, and what your business is capable of doing. That kind of change requires four things in motion at the same time: strategy that maps to the business, organizational readiness, governance, and engineering that holds up in production. We hold all four in focus because if any one of them breaks, the rest stops mattering.
Our goal from the day we start is to make ourselves unnecessary. We will never build dependency or hide our work in black boxes. We are here to equip you and leave you stronger than we found you.

Our Story
FractionX started in 2011, before fractional was a word in consulting.
Darren Hoch was an IT architect with a problem. Inside companies, he could see exactly what needed to be built and had the technical confidence to build it. But politics and red tape throttled every ambitious idea he proposed. The same ideas, coming from outside consultants, sailed through. So he left to become one.
The company started as Brian Timothy and Associates. It became FractionX in 2024 when the industry finally caught up to what we had been doing for thirteen years.
AI is the latest transformation we have helped clients navigate. Over the last fifteen years we have done it with hardware, virtualization, cloud, and serverless. Every one of them was the next thing nobody was ready for.
We are not afraid of hard problems. The DNA of FractionX is lifelong learning. We tinker. We prototype. We try things. We are comfortable on the bleeding edge of technology because we live there.
We work with small and mid-market companies because they rarely have the time or resources to live there themselves. They look at what large enterprises do with AI and assume it is out of reach. It is not. We bring that capacity to them. That is the whole point of FractionX.
